Handmade Monday #299

Welcome to Handmade Monday, our weekly link up for all things handmade. Crafts, decor ideas and recipes are all welcome here: if it’s handmade then we are happy for you to share it. This is a great place to find a few new creative ideas and inspiration too.

It’s safe to say that politics here in the UK has been a little bit discombobulating over the last week or 2! We have watched in disbelief as things have gone from bad to worse and then somehow managed to get worse again. It’s all just a bit embarrassing now, and most of us are just walking around shaking our heads at the debacle unfolding. On a positive note I finished the scrap yarn blanket I’ve been working on, on and off, for about 2 years now. I’ve picked it up each time I’ve had some more scraps of yarn and then put it down when I ran out.

You start my making a magic yarn ball so when it’s finished there are no ends to sew in! How amazing is that?

The idea came from My Poppet but I didn’t follow Cintia’s instructions completely. My blanket has turned out 39” x 42” (100cm x 106cm) and is 56 by 62 rows. I used all DK yarn and mostly a 5mm hook though I think there was a brief spell when I used a 4.5mm by mistake for a few rows. Thankfully you can’t really tell with a mixed yarn blanket like this.

Now let’s take a look at the features from last week’s Handmade Monday. Click through on the photos to see the original posts.

  • Please remember if you want to pin any of these ideas please make sure you click through via the photo to the original project.

Marie Jose has made these gorgeous red and white mushrooms/toadstools and I just love them. You might remember how much from the round up of toadstool crafts I shared a few weeks ago!

Janet from A life of Balance has made these lovely yarn wrapped pumpkins in such beautiful colours.

Claire from Pillar Box Blue has some great tips and ideas for combining watercolours with embroidery. I love this versatile idea, it’s going on my to do list (sadly my to do list is very long but I’m also optimistic that I’ll get round to everything in the end!)

Congratulations to you all There is a "YAY I was featured" button over here if you want to add one to your blog.

A like on social media, a comment or share is an easy way for us all to help to support one another so please do take a moment to visit some of the other projects linked up this week. It’s not mandatory to be able to join in here, there’s no easy way to check if you did but it costs nothing but a few minutes of your time.

The rules for Handmade Monday are very simple:

  • Did you make it? Yes - then yay! We'd love to see it

  • Add the link to a specific post, not your main blog url

  • You can link up to 3 posts each week but try to make sure it's not something that you've shared here before

  • Mingle - visit some other links - comment - share - be social

CAN I REMIND EVERYONE THAT HANDMADE MONDAY IS NOT A PLACE FOR SELLING SO NO LINKS TO ETSY OR OTHER SELLING PAGES, THEY WILL ALWAYS BE REMOVED. THANKS

If you are not sure of anything more details can be found here.

At Handmade Monday the links are shown in a random order so it’ll look different each time you pop by.
