Spring Sewing Projects
Spring has really sprung here in the UK, the evening are getting lighter and the spring flowers are brightening up the place. It’s a great time to get the sewing machine or a needle and thread out to start a sewing project or two.
I’ve put together a collection of some of my favourite sewing projects that are perfect for springtime. Some are about getting ready for warmer weather, spring time preparation for summer you could call it, others are about celebrating the fresh colours and vibes of spring.
1) Welcome the spring with Carrot and Bunny Spring Bunting from Sew Simple Home
2) Celebrate the season of sunshine and rain with a Rainbow Zipper Pouch from My Sew Bliss
3) These pretty spring colours work so well together in this Spring Mini Quilt from The Seasoned Homemaker
4) Decorate your home with these Embroidered Hanging Spring Bird Decoration, or make one and send it to a friend as a little surprise gift
5) Protect your knees when out gardening with a pretty Garden Kneeling Pad from Sisters, What!
6) Keep all your gardening essential to hand with this Upcycled Denim Gardening Apron from Vicky Myers Creations
7) Carry all your gardening equipment around in style with a Gardening Tool Bag from So Sew Easy
8) Another way to protect your knees, a simple gardening kneeler pad which only takes about 30 minutes to make
9) Pretty DIY Hair Ties in Spring colours from Apple Green Cottage
10) Put your hair up in style with a Twist Turban Headband from Orange Bettie
11) As the weather gets warmer replace thick wooly scarves with a lightweight infinity scarf like this upcycled one from Vicky Myers Creations
12) Whip up some of these pretty spring flowers made from fabric scraps, sew them to bags or hats or turn them into brooches
13) Stone Cottage Adventures has been sewing with bandanas to make pretty hair accessories in spring colours and also facemasks
14) Life Sew Savoury shows how to hack a regular fitted sleeve pattern for any dress or top and turn it into a cute puff sleeve, great to know any time of year but a puff sleeve is nice as the weather warms up and we can ditch our cardigans, hoodies and winter coats
15) This gorgeous applique pillow cover from So Sew Easy screams spring!
16) A sweet little felt bunny from Craft Bits
17) This bunny tote is so much fun, Heather Handmade has all the details on how to make it
18) Make sweet boxful of baby chicks with a simple pattern from Sew a Softie
19) Pretty fabric eggs from Hello Sewing
20) The yellow felt flower with its button centre on this felt needle case reminds me of a daffodil. This is a very easy hand sewing project.
21) What a gorgeous set of spring embroidery designs from Flamingo Toes
22) Stitched paper bunny shaped treat bags from Pillar Box Blue
23) A lovely tulip block made into a table topper from Simply Fresh Vintage
24) Add a ruffle to a mug rug for a pretty extra touch, Sew in love with fabric shows you how
